What
is a Pivot
Table/Chart ?
by Scott Lindsay (16

Microsoft Excel and Access offer a powerful
data analysis tool that enables interactive reporting on large amounts
of data. The Pivot Table/Chart tool is typically used to
analyse
transactional information allowing the user to view the data in many
different ways.
A Sales Company may have data for each Sales
Person recorded in a corporate back end system. The existing system
does not provide for flexible reporting. The data can be extracted into
Excel or Access and then a Pivot Chart can be created in a matter of
minutes that will allow the Sales team to review performance of the
company sales by Person over time and by Region or Product. The options
are limited only by the amount and type data available for reporting.
You
can try the Pivot Table/Chart tool for yourself within Excel by
accessing "Pivot Table" toolbar and using the wizard to create your
first Chart. Click Here to access
a sample Pivot Chart from our website.
