Did you know that Microsoft
Excel provides FREE
Excel templates pre-installed and available for your use. In this
month's newsletter we will demonstrate how useful these standard
templates can be.
To access the standard templates pre-installed with Excel, select File
-> New and then inside the New Workbook menu select Templates
-> "On My Computer". The followng template dialog box will be
displayed.
For this newsletter we will focus on the Sales Invovice template as it
is something that all businesses need.
If you want to discover more FREE Excel Templates click on the
"Templates on Office Online" button at the bottom of the dialog box to
access hundreds of other templates.
Customising
an Excel Template
The Excel Templates
provide a standard format and layout that can be customised for your
business needs. For example your business name,
logo, address and contact details can all be included to the
template and then saved for future use. You can also specify standard
terms and conditions for your sales as well as payment options for your
customers.
Select the Sales
Invoice template from the Templates "On My Computer" and you should be
presented with the following worksheet ready to be used as your
companys template sales invoice. Simply setup your company details and
then for each customer include their details and the specifics of their
order. This template even has in-built calculations that provide totals
at the bottom and the option of adding tax (ie GST) if needed.
Note:
For those that are already using Excel 2007 the instructions
above are similar although instead of accessing the templates through
File -> New, you access the templates via the Start Button and
then New.
